Bruce Okrepkie is a community leader and insurance agent who currently serves on the Windsor Town Council, including two years of service as Mayor. Prior to serving on the Town Council, he was Vice Chair of the Windsor Planning Commission.
Bruce was born and raised in a small town in upstate New York, where he lived until graduating high school before moving to Ohio to attend Akron University. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and a Minor in Accounting. Following graduation, Bruce moved back to New York where he met his wife, Diantha. In 1978, they left New York and moved to Sonoma County in search of a better life and to enjoy our county’s natural beauty and strong sense of community. Shortly after arriving in Sonoma County, Bruce began work at San Francisco Federal Savings and Loan, where he started as a management trainee and worked his way up to become Manager of the regional branch.
After leaving San Francisco Federal Savings and Loan, Bruce spent the next 25 years of his professional life working as a Surety and Construction Division Manager for Ellingson & Jones Insurance, ABO Insurance and Wells Fargo Bank’s Insurance Division. Bruce presently works as the Surety and Construction Manager at George Petersen Insurance Agency. He and his wife also raised their three children (Tiffany, Beth and Jeff) in Sonoma County, where they all attended local public schools. All of his children are now adults. Bruce has lived in Sonoma County for more than 40 years, and has been a resident of Windsor since 2000.
Bruce is actively involved in the community, serving on boards and committees for several organizations and non-profits. He served as President of the Board of Directors of the Santa Rosa Boys and Girls Club and was a member and former President of the Active 20-30 Club #50. Bruce also coached Little League, youth soccer and basketball for the Boys and Girls Club and was a former Chair of Choices, a national program that empowers kids to stay in school and provides them with tools to increase their career and life opportunities. Bruce continues to remain active in Choices, visiting schools across Sonoma County to encourage young people to excel in school and pursue their interests.
Bruce is a member of the Windsor Rotary Club, Windsor Chamber of Commerce, Sonoma County Alliance, Northern California Surety Association and the National Association of Surety Bond Producers (NASBP).
